Bypassed by the Huguenot Tunnel in 1988, the free old R101 pass road is now a cyclist's favourite: a sustained 13.5 km grind averaging 5.3% from the Paarl-side foot up to the 824 m summit, with the Berg River valley and Drakenstein winelands opening up behind you.
