From a lookout on the Roggeveld escarpment lip, the Ouberg Pass plunges 820m off the plateau into the Tankwa basin over 10.4km of rough gravel — 44 bends, 8 hairpins and gradients touching 1:6 make it one of the Karoo's most fearsome and revered gravel descents.
