About this route
South Africa's oldest continuously run cycle race (since 1987). Starts at Pietermaritzburg City Hall (Chief Albert Luthuli Street) and finishes on the Durban beachfront at Masabalala Yengwa Avenue. The route runs via the R103 corridor through Fox Hill and Thornville to Camperdown (where the 70km category joins), through Cato Ridge, down Botha's Hill near Kearsney College, along the M13 Highway contraflow into Durban, descending Fields Hill and Jan Smuts Highway to the finish near Moses Mabhida Stadium. Public tar roads year-round; full road closures apply only on race day.
